In 2018, Aviro launched Pocket Clinic, a multichannel (web, WhatsApp and app) point-of-care diagnostics support and linkage to care platform that improves infectious disease outcomes for both patients and providers.  We are initially supporting HIV self-testing but with a view to expand to other use cases. In the previous year we have (1) built a basic version of the tool and tested it in studies with Johns Hopkins, Wits University and others; (2) signed high-profile health providers who are piloting the tool this year; and (3) refined our business plan and proposition to have a strong income and scaling strategy.

Position Overview:

Aviro Health is looking for a junior to midweight designer to join our content and UX team. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in graphic and digital design with interest in the field of user interface design as well as user design. Our content and UX design team works closely together and we are interested in a candidate that can contribute to both departments. This will include designing for digital content platforms, traditional graphic design  as well as assisting our UX lead with UI design in Figma.

Aviro is remote first, so we are looking for someone with a strong online work ethic. The ability to self manage time, as well as clear communication is crucial for remote working within our team. We use a variety of tools, applications and systems for effective remote working, understanding and embracing these systems are crucial and key requirement for the job. (Slack, Figma, GSuite, ClickUp, Miro)

Our content team is small and works closely with the other teams that make up Aviro Health, the ability to take feedback from team members as well as outside consultants and translate this into actionable content related changes is very important.

We work predominantly in the Tech/Health sphere and need a designer who is digitally fluent and actively involved as a designer in this field in either the UI sphere or the content creation sphere. A portfolio of work as well as references should be submitted with your application. We are looking for a team member who is committed to an organisation that drives change in the health sphere.

Minimum Requirements for the Position:

• 1-3 years work experience contributing to a content or design team
• A relevant qualification in the field of graphic design
• A portfolio of work
• Well organised, proactive self-starter who is able to work independently and clearly communicate and articulate ideas and their needs
• A mature individual who is able to manage their own calendar and able to integrate into online remote team who is willing to learn and grow in the role 
• Willingness to learn various tools used by the business in order to manage workflow and delivery (eg. GSuite, Figma, and ClickUp)
• The candidate will be expected to fully participate in all company ways of workings and rituals, including sprints, retrospectives, daily stand up meeting and work grooming sessions.
• The candidate will be required to work on product design in Figma
• The candidate will also be responsible for design in Figma and other design programmes for graphic design sucha s posters, stickers, online adverts, 
• At least 2 string references.

Preferred Requirements/Qualifications for the Position: (these are advantageous but not required for the position)

• Own devices for production of work.
• Experience in User Interface Design
• Experience in Marketing and Communications
• Experience in filmmaking and video content
